How does PDF to DPL conversion work?
Our engine renders each PDF page at your printer's exact resolution (203, 300, or 600 DPI), converts it to a crisp 1-bit monochrome bitmap tuned for thermal printing, and encodes the result as print-ready DPL (Datamax Programming Language) commands. What you see in the preview is what your printer produces.
Why not just print the PDF directly?
Datamax-O'Neil printers (now part of Honeywell) speak DPL rather than ZPL. Producing native DPL keeps the printer in control of the output instead of relying on a driver to rasterize each document.
Which printers use DPL?
DPL (Datamax Programming Language) is the native command set for Datamax-O'Neil printers, a line now sold under the Honeywell brand. If your printer's manual documents STX-prefixed commands and label formats that begin with an L, it speaks DPL.
