Print Amazon FBA Labels on 2-Up Thermal Rolls

Print Amazon FBA labels on a 2-up thermal roll without wasting the second column. Upload Amazon's PDF, and the converter puts the pages side by side as ZPL for your Zebra printer, so every row prints two labels.

On a one-column roll? See how to print FNSKU labels. Need a single label? Use the FNSKU label generator.

Several labels? Drop all the files at once, or a ZIP.

Note on Watermarks: Any single label or row converts free with a watermark, so test the fit on your roll first, not inventory you'll ship. Converting every page is part of LabelZoom Pro.

Both columns print, so a roll of 2,000 labels gives you 2,000 labels and not 1,000.

A file of 5,000 identical pages becomes a short ZPL job with a print quantity, not 5,000 pages of graphics.

The row size is checked against your printer before you convert, including the space between labels.

How to print labels 2-up

  1. 1

Upload the PDF above in the default mode, not Quick Convert. When the converter asks Combine pages side by side?, choose Combine pages….

  2. 2

Under What's in your printer?, pick your roll, or choose Same as your PDF pages. Set Labels across to 2 and enter Space between labels, measured from the right edge of one label to the left edge of the next.

  3. 3

Check the printer resolution, and apply the changes. Convert one row to test it on your roll, then convert all labels and send the ZPL to your printer.

Which 2-up rolls fit a 4-inch printer

Width is the limit. A 4-inch thermal printer prints up to 4.09 in (104 mm) at 203 dpi, so two labels and the gap between them must fit inside that.

Measure the gap on your own roll, because it varies by supplier. If your printer prints wider than 4 in, choose My printer is wider when the converter warns you.

Why not print 2-up from Amazon's PDF?

For a roll with one label across, you may not need a converter. Seller Central can make item labels in thermal sizes, and a driver can print them. The trouble starts with two across: the file still has one label per page, and a driver has no way to pair the pages.

Other FBA label tools resize Amazon's labels to a thermal PDF or print them directly. As of October 2026, we didn't find one that states it fills 2-up rolls or outputs ZPL, though it's worth checking the current version of any tool you already pay for.

Print 2-up from your own software

To automate this, send these parameters with the PDF to the LabelZoom API. This example is a 50 × 30 mm roll with no gap. Sizes are in inches. See the conversion parameters reference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about printing FBA labels on rolls with two labels across.

Why does my 2-up roll print with one column empty?
Amazon's FBA label PDF has one label on each page, and a printer treats each page as one row. The first label across gets the page, and the second has nothing to print. Combining the pages puts two labels in each row, so both columns fill.
Will a 2 × 1 in 2-up roll work on a 4-inch printer?
Only with a very small space between the labels. Two 2-inch labels are already 4.0 in, and a 4-inch printer prints up to 4.09 in at 203 dpi, so the gap can't be more than about 0.09 in. With the usual 0.125 in, the row is 4.12 in and the right edge won't print. The converter warns you when this happens. Metric rolls such as 50 × 30 mm and 40 × 25 mm fit more easily.
What does 2-up mean on a label roll?
A 2-up roll, also sold as 2-across or 2-column, has two labels side by side on the liner instead of one. The printer sees the row as one wide label, so the software has to place both labels in it.
Do I need this for 2 identical labels in each row?
Yes, and it's the usual case for FBA item labels. When every page in the file is the same label, each row holds two copies. The converter sends that row once with a print quantity, using ZPL's ^PQ command, instead of repeating the label thousands of times.
Is this free?
Any single label or row converts free, with a watermark, so you can check the fit on your roll. Converting all the pages in the file is part of LabelZoom Pro, which also removes the watermark.
Does this work for labels that aren't from Amazon?
Yes. It works on any PDF with one label per page, as long as two pages fit across your printer. The pages aren't rotated to make them fit.
Can I do this from my own software?
Yes. Send the PDF to the conversion API with layout.across and layout.gap, and add zpl.collapseCopies to turn repeated rows into print quantities. PDF and image to ZPL conversions support this, and other paths return an error rather than print one column.
