Fingerprint ViewerPreview

View Honeywell Fingerprint labels online. Paste a Fingerprint or Direct Protocol job — the PP positions, FT fonts, PT text and PB barcodes your software sends to a PM43, PX940 or PD45 — and see the label it prints, without tying up the printer or wasting stock on test prints.

Job full of <STX> frames? That's IPL: use the IPL viewer. Also available: ZPL, DPL and EPL viewers.

Preview: LabelZoom’s Fingerprint rendering is the newest addition to our engine and still improving. Most labels come out right, but some elements — text baselines and uncommon barcode settings especially — may not match your printer perfectly. If a label doesn’t look right, let us know — reports go straight into what we fix next.

How to view a Fingerprint label online

  1. 1

Capture the job: print to file from BarTender or your WMS, or save what the host sends to the printer's port.

  2. 2

Paste it above or upload the file. Set the density to 203 or 300 dpi to match the printer the job was written for.

  3. 3

Click Quick Preview. Each PRINTFEED in the job becomes its own label, and you can save any of them as PNG or PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about viewing Honeywell Fingerprint labels with LabelZoom.

What is Fingerprint?
Fingerprint is the BASIC-style command language built into Honeywell (formerly Intermec) PM, PX and PD series label printers. A job is a list of short statements, often chained on one line with colons: PP sets a print position, FT picks a font, PT prints text, BT and PB print a barcode, PL and PX draw lines and boxes, and PF (PRINTFEED) prints the label. Direct Protocol is the host-driven subset of Fingerprint, and it is what label software such as BarTender sends when it drives one of these printers.
Is Fingerprint the same as IPL?
No. Both run on Intermec and Honeywell printers, but they look nothing alike. IPL frames every statement between STX and ETX control characters and defines fields like H0;o50,50;. Fingerprint has no framing at all and reads like BASIC: PP 50,300:PT "text". If your job is full of <STX> markers, use the IPL viewer instead.
Why does my job start with Seagull:2.1:DP?
That header comes from the Seagull printer driver that BarTender installs, and it names the dialect outright: Direct Protocol. The viewer reads past it, along with the setup block that usually follows, such as SETUP statements and PRINT#1 lines written to a virtual setup file. The media width and length in that block are used to size the label.
What doesn't the viewer show yet?
Images sent with PRIMAGE or PRBUF are skipped, and so are BASIC control flow and variables. FORMAT INPUT data merge isn't applied, so a placeholder such as ##001 prints as written. Barcodes cover Code 39, Code 128 (including EAN-128), Code 93, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, Interleaved 2 of 5 and QR Code; other symbologies are left off the preview.
