What is IPL?
IPL (Intermec Printer Language) is the command language of Intermec thermal printers — the EasyCoder line and its successors, the PM43, PC43d, PC43t and PD43 that Honeywell sells today. A label format is a sequence of statements wrapped in STX/ETX frames: a form header such as E1;F1; creates the format, H statements define text fields, B statements barcodes, and the job ends with a print command. Intermec also shipped a BASIC-like language called Fingerprint; a file full of IF/THEN/FONT statements is Fingerprint, not IPL.
How do I view an IPL label without the printer?

No hardware, no Intermec print tools, no test burns on a production PM43.
My file is full of <STX> text. Is that a problem?
No — that is the readable-character form, and it is exactly what Intermec printers expect. A stream can carry the frame markers either as spelled-out text or as raw control bytes; paste either and the viewer reads both. If your file came from a capture of a real print stream, the spelled-out form is the more common one to see in templates.
