EZPL ViewerPreview

View GoDEX EZPL labels online. Paste the job your system sends to a GoDEX printer — the ^Q and ^W media settings, then the A text, B barcode and Lo box lines between ^L and E — and see the label it prints. Useful for checking a wristband, shelf or shipping label before it reaches the printer.

Job starts with N and ends in P1? That's EPL: use the EPL viewer. Starts with ^XA? Your GoDEX is in ZPL mode: use the ZPL viewer. Also available: TSPL and DPL viewers.

Preview: EZPL support is new, and it was built from GoDEX’s programming manual and customer jobs rather than tested against a GoDEX printer. Expect the layout, text and barcodes to be right; font widths and some less common commands may differ from a real print. If a label doesn’t match, send us the job and we’ll look at it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about viewing GoDEX EZPL label jobs with LabelZoom.

What is EZPL?
EZPL is the native command language of GoDEX label printers, from desktop models such as the G500 and DT series to industrial ones such as the EZ-2000 line and the ZX1200. A job opens with setup lines that start with a caret, such as ^Q for the label length and gap, ^W for the width and ^H for darkness, and then gives the label itself between a line reading ^L and a line reading E. Inside, each line draws one thing: A for text, B for a barcode, W for a QR code, Lo for a line or box.
I pasted my job into the EPL viewer and it failed. Why?
EZPL and EPL look alike, since both put one command per line with comma-separated values, but the same letters mean different things. In EZPL, P draws a PDF417 symbol and R a rectangle; in EPL, P prints the label and R sets the reference point. A job that has a ^L line and ends in E is EZPL and belongs here. One that starts with N and ends in P1 is EPL, and the EPL viewer reads it. When you paste one into the other's page, LabelZoom spots the mismatch and offers to switch.
Is every GoDEX job EZPL?
No. Many GoDEX printers also offer GEPL and GZPL, emulations of EPL and ZPL that are chosen in the printer's settings. If the job your software sends starts with ^XA, the printer is running ZPL and the ZPL viewer is the right tool. If it starts with N and has quoted A text lines, it's EPL.
Why does my label come out too big?
EZPL positions everything in printer dots, and a dot is a different size on each print head: 8 dots per millimeter at 203 dpi and 12 at 300 dpi. The job doesn't say which head it was written for, so set the density to match the printer. A 300 dpi job viewed at 203 dpi is drawn half again too large, and whatever runs past the label edge is cut off.
What doesn't the viewer show yet?
Whole-label turns set with ^XSET,ROTATION or ^LR, inverse and mirror labels, images and fonts stored on the printer (Y and downloaded fonts), and stored formats recalled with ^K. Date, time and variable fields (^D, ^T, ^V) print as written instead of filled in. Postal barcodes and Micro PDF417 are skipped.
